Lahari on Orcas

Our mission is to provide education, resources and support to assist aged or infirm people with living on Orcas Island up to and including provision of hospice care.

DOOR TO DOOR TRANSPORTATION
The Orcas Door to Door is a transportation service designed to meet the needs of non-driving, homebound older adults and adults with disabilities on Orcas Island. The program is available to qualified riders who need door-to-door assistance to access essential services and social events in order to remain healthy and active within our community.

CAREGIVING/CAREGIVER PROGRAMS
Orcas Caregiving Connection – provides a directory of local caregivers and information resources for care seekers, caregivers, as well as individuals who would like to become caregivers.
HCA Training and Certification – Lahari sponsors island residents who wish to become trained and certified as a Home Care Aide(HCA)
In-Home Volunteer Hospice Support – Lahari’s roots are in the provision of hospice services and we remain committed to supporting volunteer hospice providers and those who need this service on Orcas Island.

ORCAS SAFE HOMES PROJECT
In brief, the project involves a free, in-home safety evaluation. This is a comprehensive review and results in a written list of recommended actions for the resident. Other than the resident and Lahari, no one else receives a copy of this report. The resident is free to decide if they are going to undertake any or all of the recommended actions. If the resident requires assistance in locating or hiring a contractor to undertake some of this work, Lahari will help the resident with this task. If the resident is unable to afford to undertake the actions that have been recommended, Lahari has a program to provide financial assistance to complete the work that they might be eligible for.
