THE CRISIS THERAPY PROJECT
The outbreak of Novel Corona Virus (COVID-19) has led many people to feel stress, anxiety, grief and loss.
We’re asking therapists to offer free therapy sessions for people experiencing distress related to COVID-19.
LEARN HOW
We believe it should be easy and free for qualified mental health providers to connect to the right clients. That's why we've built a crowd-sourced directory of mental health resources. Our Resource Directory connects therapists to paying clients at no cost to the provider. Also, we're using it for amazing things like the Crisis Therapy Project.
Therapists can signup at thero.org/signup to offer free individual sessions. We verify your license and review your experience in trauma, crisis, or grief and loss.
Once your license and experience is verified you can add your listing to the Thero Directory.
When filling out the details on your listing there is a "Crisis Therapy Project" section where you can list yourself as offering free therapy for the crisis in your area. This will make your listing visible to people searching for free crisis therapy in your area.
Once the free spot in your schedule is filled by a client you can remove the Crisis Therapy option on your listing to stop being shown on the Crisis Therapy search results.
The Crisis Therapy Project uses the power of our resource directory to connect people affected by crises (like school shootings, natural disasters, and disease outbreaks) to therapists who are offering free therapy.
When a therapist adds their practice to the Thero Resource Directory they can choose to participate in the Crisis Therapy Project as well. They don't have to participate, but if they do, their private practice will display in search results for free therapy for people affected by crises. The steps to participate are outlined below.

When you are logged in as a Provider you will see an "Add Resource" button on the top menu. Hover over it and click "My Private Practice." Fill in all required fields, providing as much accurate information as possible about your practice.
When filling out the information for your Directory listings you'll see a section called "CRISIS THERAPY PROJECT." This section is optional. Select this if you want to offer free therapy to someone affected by a crisis AND you are qualified to offer therapy for crisis, trauma, grief, or first responders. Participating therapists need to offer a minimum of 6 sessions.
Below are the steps you need to take if you're thinking about participating in the Crisis Therapy Project.
