    Extended Biography :

I moved to San Diego in 1998 to begin my college career at Point Loma Nazarene University. I later completed my academic education with a doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University, San Diego.

My pre-doctoral training involved work at Isis Crisis House, the Chadwick Center for Children and Families at Children's Hospital San Diego, and the Clinical Services program at Catholic Charities. I also worked as a psychological assistant in the private practice of local psychologist Dr. Karen Hyland. I completed my post-doctoral clinical training working with college students for two years in the Wellness Center at PLNU.

I have the clinical background to work with a diverse range of clients and presenting issues. I have a passion for attending to the holistic--physical, emotional, and spiritual--needs of adolescents, adults, couples, and families. In particular, I have a special interest in working with personal growth and existential issues, relational issues, self-acceptance, mens issues, and college-age/young adult issues.

In addition to my clinical work, I have been working at PLNU as an Adjunct Professor since 2005, and have taught classes on the Psychology of Personal Development, Theories of Personality and Adult Development, Clinical and Community Interventions, and Group Counseling. The video below was made by PLNU and highlights the rock climbing trip I take with my students each semester.

Personally, I enjoy living an active lifestyle. Aside from being an avid surfer and rock climber, I also enjoy riding my bike, swimming, and playing golf. When not engaged in one of these activities I look forward to reading, playing guitar, do-it-yourself projects, and drawing/painting on occasion. I believe it is important for you to get to know me, so I have included some pictures that represent my life as well. Enjoy!
