As a certified Pastoral Counselor since 1982 and a licensed Clinical Psychologist since 1995, and 2016 President of the San Diego Psychological Association, I am convinced that the gift of psychotherapy is the relationship that develops between therapist and client. This interconnectedness provides a safe environment to confront the anxieties and challenges of life. I am particularly interested in working with persons with concerns around aging, relationships, spirituality, and gender.

Role In Relation to Clients/Patients:
Primarily rooted in the mind/body/spirit connection, and using as appropriate the tools of Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, EMDR, and Positive Psychology, my goal is to empower others to explore their inner challenges and those that arise from the stresses of life in the 21st century. As one trained in the interrelatedness of spirituality and psychology, I am especially aware of the role that religion has played for many people, both as a source of strength and of pain and am open to the exploration of these concerns for those who seek it.
