My specialty is brief targeted psychotherapy.
Targeted therapy begins with target identification. This is done by answering one of two questions.
Is there an event or memory from your past, even if vague or fragmentary, that continues to affect your life in non-productive ways?
What do you do (including say or think) in your life that you would like to do more of or less of?
If you have an answer to either of these questions, we can develop a treatment plan that includes assessing and consolidating your strengths, exploring the target memory or behavior, and then addressing the target in ways that create the desired change.

Extended Biography :
I was first licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist in 1998 after earning my master's degree in counseling psychology from JFK University in 1992.
I have been involved in violence abatement and recovery efforts since 1975 and worked in non-profit, government agency, and private practice settings. There I became familiar with treating individuals suffering from the effects of rape, murder, physical and sexual child abuse, domestic violence, major injury accidents and combat stress as well as other, less commonly considered, critical incidents.
I am also experienced in helping people identify and shift habitual behaviors that interfere with the full enjoyment of their lives by increasing their range of responses to life situations and being better able to choose the appropriate response in the moment.
I have specific experience with veterans of conflicts from WWII to Iraq and Afghanistan, has several seasons of wild-land fire suppression experience and supported line officer efforts to start a peer support team in a law enforcement agency.Role In Relation to Clients/Patients:
My knowing the details of your history does not help you heal. In fact i can often help without knowing any of the Who, Where, How, Why, What of the incident that haunts you. that said, You may feel a need to tell me the story and I can listen. I see my role as facilitating procedures that re-align brain functions such that the past no longer feels like the present. Most clients eventually tell me their trauma story as the ability tell the story without distress is a measure of trauma resolution.Gender: ManRace & Ethnicity: Caucasian
